Key Points to Remember When Starting A Blog or Webpage PT 1

If this is you at times keep these tips in mind.

If this is you at times keep these tips in mind.

First, I want to congratulate you on taking the first step towards owning your own home business, and those of you that have been in this business for a while I would like to congratulate you on sticking in there and staying focused on the goals you have set. As you all may know although many claim that it is easy to start a home business online, it is not easy making a substantial income and bring traffic to your business.  That’s actually one of the hardest parts. Many times entrepreneurs like yourself may get lost trying different methods to drive traffic to your website, or if you haven’t gotten to the point of running your website and/or blog you may get lost trying to start it.  Here are a couple of key points to keep in mind while you are getting your new project off the ground.

  • First, I know you may be very excited about launching your new blog/web page. Maybe sometimes you can’t even sleep at night because your mind is going 100 mph. I know I’ve been there, heck even now there are  times I can’t sleep.  Just remember don’t spend your every waking moment in front of the computer working on your business. While you want to spend a sufficient amount of time on your blog and/or web page, you don’t want to spend all of your time on it.  This can cause a lot of stress and frustration.  You don’t want to become a what I like to call “Internet Zombie”.    Instead, try to take a break every couple of hours, go for walks, or just step outside for a breath of fresh air. Do anything as long as its in no way linked to the project that you are working on. This will help prevent a lot of that stressand releive frustrations.
  • Theres a lot of information you have to take in about starting your own blog or website, on top of the added information you have to learn on your niche what ever it may be. You don’t have to take in all this information all at once. This can be very over whelming and can cause information over load. NOT GOOD! When I first started out I learned the solution to this very quickly. You have to set specific goals for yourself. It’s called having a plan of action. This is specific things you want to learn for the day and certain goals of things you want to put in place on your webpage or blog for the day.  Do this up to a week in advance and stick to it as best as possible.  Remember these are just goals and the one thing goals do a lot is change. So be a little flexible with this “To Do” list and don’t make it overbearing. This list is to help you, not make you work harder. It’s not a deadline. So if you don’t have enough time to get to something one day know worries just shift it over to the next, its ok this is your business, it’s allowed. REMEBER YOU OWN THE BUSINESS, THE BUSINESS DOESN’T OWN YOU!
  • Another key point I would like to mention is what I consider one of the most important out of these three points. It’s understandable to want to work hard to get your blog or webpage up to your personal standards. Whether you are working on this project as a hobby or to make an income, but keep in mind the main reasons that’s motivating you to create this piece of Internet realestate. Especially if one of those reasons is related to your family. May be your having a kid and you want to be able to provide a better life for this new member of your family. This is one of my personal reasons for starting my own business.  In the beginning it can be very easy to become some what disconnected or withdrawn from the people with in your house hold. This can happen without you even knowing it. When I first started every time my fiancé’ came around I was on the computer researching, or working on my next article. I didn’t even notice this was happening. In my head I assumed she understood what I was doing. I assumed she new my goals and that she would understand that when I started this business especially in the beginning it would consume a lot of my time. It wasn’t until one night while I was doing some studying, my fiance’ was watching TV in the living room, out of the blue she began to cry. I really didn’t understand what I did or where this burst of emotion was coming from. When I sat down and talked to her I learn that without knowing it I was actually disconnecting myself from the home I was working so hard to improve. In her mind all she new was that I was starting a home business, all my attention went from her to this new endeavor. Now remember I told you she was pregnant so this was a very big deal. If you ever has a kid then you know the most important things a woman needs when going through a pregnancy is love, affection, and attention.  So our situation definitely wasn’t good. We came up with a solution. A solution that even if your situation isn’t the same as mind you can still tailor it to your house hold. Everyday I let her know what I am planning to work on for the day. I teach her what I am doing while I am doing it so she can feel a sense of inclution.  I also keep a schedule. (I will be talking more about schedules  and how to go about scheduling in part two) By doing this she keeps me on track and now she has a better understanding on why I am spending so much time on the computer. She even encourages me to keep up with my articles and my web page. By including her she knows that the beginning is the most crucial time for a business to get off the ground. This has even turned into motivation for me to keep going. We all need as much motivation as possible, because one commen barrier that many new and old entrepreneurs run into is discouragement. (Which is another topic I will touch on, and give tips on haw to over come in part two of this article)

These are just a few of the many key points to keep in mind when starting your own blog or webpage. It isn’t a bad idea to keep these key points in mind when starting anything new. If you keep them in mind they will help you in the long run, and in the end these points will help you get more work done in time. Be sure to look out next week for Part two of Key Points to Remember When Starting a Blog or Webpage.

CATCH A CON MAN AND PUT THEM TO SHAME/ SCAMS UNVIELD

As part of my mission statement for this I blog I promised to reveal any and all scams that I can possibly find to protect my readers from losing there hard earned money.  Before I even decided that I was going to do this I already knew about the hard work that laid ahead.  As I began researching for my next article I came across a blog that’s ran by a man who’s a name was John Ash.  On his blog Catch the Con Man And Put Them To Shame he writes articles on scams like myself. In his blog he even has a Wall Of Shame were you, the reader can go and post the names of other con men that you know of. I wasn’t surprised that there was another person out there that was done with losing money, and decided to speak up like myself.  I mean this guy.. John Ash  has a burning passion to stop these con men  or at the very least make the public more aware of there existence like myself, and that was what surprises me. It was almost creepy I felt like I was reading about myself.  So you know me the wheels in my head started spinning out of control. I thought to myself ” I have to talk to this guy and see what he is really about.”

So after communicating back and forth for about a week  I had a good feel of what John Ash was really. Not only does this guy have the burning desire to catch con men and call them out like myself but he also wants to bring free information to the people  on how to create a income the legitimate way on the Internet. Humm does that sound familiar? I swore up and down that this guy had my whole MO. I felt like I was talking to myself about myself every time we talked. The next step for us was so obvious when it came to me it almost knocked me off my feet. PARTNERSHIP! I mean why not? We both are working towards the same cause its only logical.  So here it is folks the public announcement from John Ash himself:

As promised, here is the information about my collaboration with deantesection:

It is very rare in this day and age of scam websites, programs and review pages that are nothing more than soft sell pages for the authors own affiliate products; that you find a few honest people that are actually willing and happy to help without it costing you money in some way or another. Two such bloggers have decided to get together and, between them; whilst working on their own projects – they have decided that a new site should be created where they will offer help and advice for free, on how to avoid falling into the typical pitfalls of setting up an online business.

There are so many ways in which a person can end up paying more than is necessary.  For example: you may find yourself a reputable host who is including a free domain name into the bargain, this is great – but you will often find yourself confused by the choices of domain available, if you don’t pay close attention you could find that you didn’t order the free domain name, why? Because quite often it is only a specific type of domain that is available for free. Let’s say the offer is for a .biz/.org or .info domain, it is not always made abundantly clear that the offer is for only these extensions.

Moreover; you will find that certain choices such as a $10 dot com are pre-ticked and you have to manually un-tick and select the correct one. Then there are numerous other up-sells such as ssl certificates. Our blogs and websites are going to guide you through these treacherous waters so as you don’t end up paying a lot more than you need to. We intend to bring others who are experts in their niches into the projects so as we can cover all areas of the web with the authority and knowledge to back up our information.

Here are some of the things we will take you step by step through:

  • The advantages and disadvantages of using free hosts with a sub domain.
  • How to build a basic website without coding knowledge.
  • How to blog and find your niche.
  • Monetising your site or blog.
  • Automating your blog, free and paid.
  • Free SEO tips and tricks.
  • Promoting your site for free.
  • Gaining back links for free.
  • Article marketing.
  • Genuine product reviews, no alternative products will be offered because this is a classic affiliate technique and therefore the “bad product review” is often not accurate, but just a means to sell their own product.

All this and much more will be available in bite size informational posts and articles as well as a help contact e-mail address. The catch the conmen forum will also be put to dual use as a forum dealing with all our networked sites. The best part of all of this – we will be bringing you all this help, and all these sources for nothing.

Top 15 Ways to Build Your Subscriber List

Email marketing can be profitable for any business, no matter what kind of product or service you are selling. It is significantly cheaper than other advertising methods and it helps build credibility with your subscribers. As a result, you can generate more sales and profits.

The foundation for successful email marketing is a targeted, responsive and permission-based email list. If you have a list of subscribers that trust you and consider you an expert, you’ve completed the first step and are on your way!

Below you will several list-building ideas that will help you make the most of your email marketing efforts:

  1. Provide useful, relevant and unique content. Your visitors will not give you their email addresses just because they can subscribe to your newsletter free of charge. You have to provide unique and valuable information that will be useful to your subscribers.

  2. Add a subscription form to every page of your website. Make sure it stands out so it is easy to find. If appropriate, you can also include it in more than one place. For instance, your opt-in form might always appear in the top-left corner of your site, while you also include an opt-in at the bottom of some of your popular articles.

  3. Make it easy for your reader to sign up. The more information you request, the fewer people will opt-in. In most cases, a name and an email address should suffice. If it’s not necessary, don’t include it here. (Note: If you don’t have a Privacy Policy, put the words “privacy policy generator” into a search engine and you should be able to find a suitable form for your readers to review.

  4. Publish a Privacy Policy. Let your readers know that they can be confident you will not share their information with others. The easiest way to do this is to set up a Privacy Policy web page and provide the link to it below your opt-in form.

  5. Show your first issue or other sample to your visitors. This lets potential subscribers review your newsletter before they sign up to determine if it is something they’d be interested in.

  6. Archive past newsletter issues. A “library” of past newsletters is both appealing and useful to visitors and builds your credibility as an authority. In addition, if your articles are written with good SEO techniques in mind, they can send additional traffic to your web site through good search engine positioning.

  7. Contact other newsletter publishers. Introduce yourself and explore ways you may be able to help each other. Perhaps you can introduce other publisher’s newsletters or print articles they have written to your list, with a link to sign up. When you contact them, be sure to tell them why you think THEIR readers would like what you have to offer and why YOUR readers would benefit from their newsletters. This is a win-win scenario; both of you will build your lists faster!

  8. Give away bonuses subscribers can use. Create an opt-in bonus for joining your subscriber list. You can write an ebook or PDF report, or even hire a programmer to create downloadable or web-based software. But don’t limit yourself to only a gift for new opt-ins. Remind your readers that the next bonus is coming soon. People hate to miss out on things. If you systematically pass on “goodies” throughout the year, your subscribers are unlikely to leave.

  9. Ask your subscribers to pass it on. Word of mouth is a powerful viral technique that works great with email marketing. If your subscribers find the content you share with them to be informative, they will pass your newsletter on to their friends. This can be a good source of new subscribers.

  10. Let others reprint your newsletter as long as the content is not modified. Many webmasters and newsletter publishers are actively looking for high-quality content and, if they reprint your newsletter, you will get new subscribers, traffic and links pointing to your site.

  11. Include a “Sign Up” button in the newsletter. If you are using plain text instead of HTML, provide a text link to your subscription page. You may feel that this is not required because the subscriber is already on your list, but remember that readers will forward your newsletters to others, or reprint it online. You want to make it easy for them to subscribe.

  12. Add a squeeze page. A squeeze page has one goal − to get an opt-in and build your list. Think of it like a mini-sales letter for your subscription or opt-in bonus. It features a powerful headline and a couple of very important benefits that should make subscribers salivate to sign up to your list. Once created, use a service such as WordTracker to find hundreds of targeted keywords, and advertise there using pay-per-click advertising from Google, MSN and Yahoo.

  13. Include testimonials on your squeeze page. This is crucial. Put 1 or 2 strong testimonials from satisfied subscribers on your squeeze page. This can be in any format, but you may find that multimedia (audio or video social proof) is more “believable”. To increase that believability, include full names, locations and/or urls; don’t use “Bob K, FL” as a testimonial name.

  14. Blog religiously. Blogging is a great way to communicate with your potential customers, and it creates a nice synergy with your email marketing. Be sure to include your newsletter sign-up form on each page of your blog. You can start a free blog at Blogger or WordPress.

  15. Post on other blogs. Post great comments and information on similar blogs with a link to your squeeze or opt-in page. Also comment on others’ blogs through trackbacks. In most cases, your comments will be posted on their blogs with a link back to your site. This is an easy way to generate new traffic and subscribers.

Missed Opportunites: “Success Belongs To He Who Fights For It”

desperate

You have a choice...what will it be?

This morning I woke up around eight o’ clock, and went to Wawa for my morning cappuccino which is a daily routine for me, but this morning was much different from yesterday or any other morning for that matter. This morning I was approached by a homeless man. He was real scruffy looking, about 6’2 looked to be in his mid 30′s wearing very old faded clothing. He said he hadn’t eaten in a day and asked if I could spare any change so that he could get something from this store we were standing in front of. Growing up in New Jersey I’ve been in many situations like this before where in the past I would say I didn’t have any change and I would go on about my business. This situation was much different because when I looked into this gentlemans eyes I saw something I had only seen in a starving dogs eyes. He had the look of despair. He looked as if every flame of hope in his heart was extinguished. I can tell just by the look on his face that everything he had ever worked for, everything that he once had was gone. Did he bring this life style on himself or is he the end product of hard times and misfortune. It wasn’t for me to judge, I just knew that this man desperately needed my help. So I went inside the store grabbed my morning cappuccino took some money out of the ATM, and gave it to this man of misfortune.

Now you might be asking yourself why am I telling you this story? Is it to glorify myself for doing a good deed? No the reason why I thought I would share this story with you today is to bring one thing to realization. Opportunities in life come and go. I’m pretty sure that this man had many opportunities and paths through out his life that he could have taken to prevent him from ending up where he is today. Did he choose the right path? Well that’s not for me or you to determine, but you my friends have a choice. When you feel like you can’t go on in your business or in life itself stop and  think about this story. You have options right now,  you have a choice. Don’t give up on what ever endeavors you may be pursuing. Who cares if your business isn’t getting the traffic you want it to right now, you know what that means you have to work harder. Spend a extra hour or two a week working on bringing traffic to you business. Spend that extra hour or two a week networking, researching your product more. Make that extra investment that will help bring costumers to your website. Add that extra keyword that will put you higher on the search engines. Success just won’t be handed to you. SUCCESS BELONGS TO HE WHO FIGHTS FOR IT.

Using Social Networking Sites to Drive Traffic to Your Site

This is a very informative article by a very knowledgeable Internet marketer whos name is Shelly Lowery. I have used here website as a reference since I first start. I hope this article will shed little bit of light on social networking and help all of you out as much as it has helped me. ENJOY!!

shelley_lowerySocial networking sites seem to be the biggest thing on the Internet right now, and there are no signs that this will change anytime in the near – or far – future. The fact is that social networking sites, such as MySpace, FaceBook, and others, have given people the opportunity to express themselves, meet new people, and communicate effectively, and nobody is going to give that up.

Social networking on the Internet may seem like a new concept to most people – but it really isn’t. The first social network appeared on the Internet as far back as 1995, with Classmates. Classmates offers people the opportunity to reconnect with old classmates from High School and College, and is still in operation today – and doing quite well.

From there, social networking advanced with the onslaught of Internet dating sites. However, these days, it has advanced to the point where social networking sites often do not have a specific ‘theme.’ MySpace, which is by far the most popular social networking site in existence, is an example of this. No matter what your interests are, there is room for you on MySpace.

Social Networking Features

Social networking sites often have common elements. Some have more features than others. In all cases, you are able to create your profile. Sites, such as MySpace, actually allow you to fully customize your profile page, so that it is very unique, using layouts that are available all over the Internet. You can also create your own layout.

Other features include messengers, email systems, blogging features, friend’s lists, and comments sections. Some social networking sites will allow you to send individual emails to other site members, or to send broadcast emails out to all of the people on your network or friend’s list.

Most social networking sites will allow anyone to join, and are typically free to join. However, there are some that require a fee for membership, such as Ryze, and some that require an invitation from another member, such as Pownce. Connect with Other Like-Minded People

Many people view social networking sites as ‘something to do.’ However, they are much more than that. Social networking sites allow members to express and develop identities, to build relationships, to garner trust among their peers, and much more. The social networking sites simply provide the means – it is the members who create the content of the site, making these social networking sites user content driven.

Internet Marketers, large corporations, and even television shows make use of social networking sites. For example, many popular reality television shows have profiles on the more popular social networking sites.

This encourages public participation. They use the concept that ‘everyone wants to feel like they are a part of something’ and it is successful – because social networking sites allow everyone to be a part of something, regardless of who they are, where they are located, their sex, religion, beliefs, careers, backgrounds, or any other consideration that exists. Everyone who has access to a computer with an Internet connection has a ‘voice’ and they can use it with ease thanks to social networking sites.

Some of the best known social networking sites include: MySpace, Facebook, hi5, Xanga, linkedin, reunion, friendster, bebo, tagged, and classmates.

Signing up is usually very easy, and only requires you to submit your name, your location, a screen name, a password, and of course a valid email address.

Today, it is estimated that there are more than 200 social networking sites in existence. You can get a more complete list of social networking sites, as well as the ‘theme’ or group of people that each site caters to and the number of members through Wikipedia. Visit the Wikipedia site and search for social networking websites. Marking Via Social Networking Sites

The popularity of social networking sites stems from the Search Engines. The Search Engines love these sites, as they always contain fresh content. What’s more, if you look at the Alexa rankings for some of these sites, such as MySpace, Facebook, etc., you will find that they are among the most popular sites on the Internet.

Although you can’t advertise on these sites, you can create a profile and include a link to your web site. This will provide a great way to not only increase your ranking in the Search Engines, but also drive traffic to your web site.

Social Networking Sites also provide you with a great way to spread your content all over the Internet. For example, you can share your articles, news, and post comments.

The key to using these sites successfully is to create a complete profile that contains a link to your site and an RSS feed. Add fresh content on a regular basis to drive a continuous stream of traffic to your web site.
